Roses

The theme of ‘roses’ is simply taking the time to honour and appreciate flowers and art. The Cambridge Sculpture Garden makes space for people to interact intentionally with the natural landscape and with art, which aids in healing. The two people on the mural are smelling flowers. For Andrea, the smell of roses is one of the most enjoyable sensory experiences one can have. In Ontario blooming seasons are fleeting, so the artist wanted to make this permanent mural a reminder of their temporary presence and scent. Andrea’s work often aims to remind people of the importance and value of nature.

“It has so much to give us, and if we take time to slow down and literally smell the flowers, we can access a renewed appreciation for life” - Andrea Manica
