Green Pentagonal by Laura Marotta in collaboration with Brian Redmond
Green Pentagonal is our sixth and newest sculpture at the Cambridge Sculpture Garden. It was installed in June 2025 coinciding with our 25th anniversary. The geometric stainless steel modular sculpture was designed and installed by Laura Marotta in collaboration with mathematician, Brian Redmond. Both creators are currently teaching at Northwestern Polytechnic in Grande Prairie, Alberta. It is made up of 60 painted stainless steel pentagonal faces grouped into 12 repeating floret sections that make up a 5 foot sphere.
Funding for this sculpture was provided by The City of Cambridge Core Area Transformation Fund, Cambridge Arts Guild, The Keith and Winifred Shantz Fund for the Arts and the Visual Arts Fund, both held at the Waterloo Region Community Foundation, Northwestern Polytechnic’s Office of Applied Research and Innovation and private donors.
